A Lesson in Gratitude

Ever wondered what classrooms in Africa look like?  Well, first of all, they vary greatly.  From one end of the continent to the other, Africa looks very different.  Countries throughout Africa have a variety of cultures, landscapes, people, and degrees of wealth and poverty.  There are mountains, deserts, grasslands, jungles, and more.  There are countries that might look a lot like parts of our own country, but there are many countries who live VERY differently than us.

A friend of mine recently adopted a little boy from Ethiopia.  In honor of his birthday, they’re asking friends to donate to a charity that helps villages in Ethiopia find clean water.  I spent a little time on the website for the organization today, looking at pictures, watching videos, and learning about the reality of these people.

When I stumbled across this picture of an Ethiopian classroom, I knew I had to share it with you.

The yellow jugs on their tables are their drinking water for the day.  In this village, this is what that means.

We have so much to be thankful for.
